Galentine’s Day

February 13th, the most important day of the year. This is the day we leave our significant others at home and celebrate the love we have for our girlfriends, soul sisters and chosen family. As Amy Poehler’s Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope says, “Ladies celebrating ladies.”

In true Galentine’s Day style, I teamed up with some of my best gal-pals to celebrate this special day and to give you some inspo for your own gatherings.

Here are my 3 tips for a successful Galentine’s Day get-together:

  1. Treat yourself. Forget about the calorie counting and indulge in what you love, whether it be local pastries from Prairie Girl Bakery or my personal favourite, fresh  heart sprinkled donuts from Loblaws. To each her own.
  2. Follow a common theme. To make your gathering feel extra special, splurge on a few cute décor details. This will show that you put in extra effort to make this day one to remember. We found these patterned plates and straws from HomeSense and picked up roses from a local flower shop.
  3. Put the phones away. This is an opportunity to connect, build relationships and share some much-needed quality girl time. Ditch your phones at the door so that you won’t be tempted to check every notification that pops up on your screen.

To see more of our Galentine’s gathering visit both my girlies – Rebecca (from A Long Way From Home) and Britt (from Little B Big City)!

You can always count on Ted Baker to design the cutest quirky prints. This spring they released the ZAHLEE fly fish print silk shirt, and you can say I’m hooked. This UK based fashion brand has always had a cheeky sense of humour and unconventional approach to fashion. With their keen attention to detail and expert tailoring, they have made a splash in the Canadian market. Shop the look at

Weekends are sacred. For 48 hours, you get to spend work-free time however you please. For many this means catching up on laundry or episodes of their favourite Netflix series, but for me it’s time to be selfish. Time to focus on self-care and reenergize for the workweek ahead.

I find one of the best ways to recharge is to treat myself to a DIY spa day. You know… face masks, bath bombs, body oils – the works.

A great Canadian skincare brand that I love using is Rocky Mountain Soap Company. Based in Canmore, the company keeps it simple promising 100% natural and toxin free products.

My top picks include….

  1. Vanilla Coconut Body Butter, made with organic cocoa butter and local beeswax to offer intense moisture.
  2. Fennel & Charcoal Soap Bar, to naturally cleanse the skin.
  3. Transformative Cleansing Oil, to balance and nourish the skin.

It is so important to make time for yourself to maintain a healthy lifestyle. So I say, long live self-care Sundays and the selfish practices that come with it.

What’s better than a extra long weekend? Finding the perfect bathing suit that gives you the confidence to become that weekend warrior that you’ve always wanted to be.

I struggled in the past with body confidence and when you are insecure, the only thing you can focus on is how you are being perceived by others. In this bathing suit from Nora Swimwear I felt like I could actually be outgoing and partake in social activities without worrying about how I looked.  Ashley, the founder of Nora, created the brand with one mission in mind – making sure women not only look good in a swimsuit, but feel good too.

Her designs are stylish and manage to flatter all body types, hugging curves in all the right places to highlight our best ass-ets (lol, but for real, check out her cheeky bottoms, they do wonders).

Be sure to stock up on Nora before the next long weekend comes around so that you can conquer your insecurities while supporting a local business and empowering women all over the world.

Gingham is not just for picnic blankets my friends. Turns out this traditional checkerboard print is a total hit this season. Fashion retailers from Forever 21 to Prada have reinvented the classic Wizard of Oz Dorothy dress for spring 2017. I fell for this American Eagle Knot Keyhole Romper.  Normally I have a hard time shopping for rompers and one-pieces with my body type but I definitely lucked out with this find. It’s preppy, playful and looks like a dress while giving me the freedom to forget about holding down a skirt in breezy weather. Shop this look on sale today at

Dominican Dressing

At the last minute, Brandon and I decided to seize the day and book a vacation to an all-inclusive resort in Dominican Republic. No hassle, no stress, just endless buffets, beers and beaches – just what the doctor ordered. The Dominican lifestyle is carefree and slow-paced so I made sure to bring along garments that matched these island vibes.

This maxi from Abercrombie and Fitch was a great find. Not only is is super lightweight, but it packs well and looks put-together for those nights when we wanted to class it up and dine at the ocean front restaurant.

Stay tuned for more looks from the trip coming soon!

Let me introduce you to my new favourite Toronto conscious clothing company – The Saltwater Collective. Driven by their vision for cleaner oceans, The Saltwater Collective uses eco-friendly fashion to help consumers realize their impact on the environment. To help reverse the damage, a portion of every sale is donated to Oceana to support their ocean conservation efforts.

This company popped up in my Insta feed after searching for some last minute additions to my Dominican Republic vacation wardrobe. I placed my order with no hesitation. Knowing that the garments were designed and manufactured locally with ethically sourced materials, it was a guilt free purchase.

Join the Collective and protect paradise in style.
